Betta fish are one of the most popular species of fish that you’ll find. They’re low maintenance, small and look beautiful. Despite also being known as Japanese/Siamese fighting fish, they’re actually very low-key (although males can be slightly more aggressive). Anybody who has had a look around our site will already know how much we love Bettas. If you’re new to Betta fish and you’re wondering what sort of environment you should try to create for them, hopefully this list of Betta fish tanks and aquariums will make your life a bit easier!

Firstly, let’s cover some points that are important to know about Betta fish:

  • They’re ideal for beginners, but still need to be cared for properly. They’re animals, not toys
  • Ideally the minimum size for a betta fish tank should be 5 gallons
  • You’ll need accessories like a heater, food (specifically for Betta fish) and a decent filter
  • They don’t require air pumps – Bettas are labyrinth fish, which means they can breathe from the surface of the water

Tetra Fish Globe

We’ve covered this Tetra Globe extensively on this site, mainly because it’s such a great tank that is perfect for smaller fish. It also comes with a range of cool features, like a built in waterfall and a power filter. At 1.8 gallons it’s definitely not what you’d describe as a big fish tank, but it’s perfect if you’ve got a Betta. Here are some other cool features of this globe:

  • Cartridge based filtration
  • Waterfall feature
  • Pump driver filter

Tetra Fish Cube

Continuing our countdown of Betta fish tanks, this is a slightly bigger Tetra tank than the globe at 3 gallons, so if you need a bit more room for things like decorations and other accessories then this should be perfect. This tank also comes with a handful of features that will make it even better for your Betta, including:

  • 3i filter to keep your Betta healthy and safe
  • LED light
  • Feeding hole in lid

Kollercraft 5 Gallon Aquarium

kit-aquarium-kollercraft kit

This tank is from Kollercraft, one of the best fish tank companies currently out there. At 5 gallons, this is probably what I would describe as an ideal betta fish tank, because it has enough room to comfortably hold a couple of Bettas. Here are the main features of this awesome Betta aquarium:

  • Power filter – makes it incredibly easy to keep the tank clean and keep your Bettas healthy
  • LED lighting – brings out the beauty of your Betta
  • Flat backed with rounded front – creates a unique shape
  • Acrylic – provides a crystal clear view of your fish

biOrb Betta Fish Tank

I’m always shocked that biOrb aren’t spoken about more in the fish tank community because they’re a seriously good company who produce great aquariums. This is a perfect example, and is a perfect example of what an ideal Betta fish tank should look like – stylish and spacious. Here is what you’ll get when you purchase this tank:

  • 4 Gallons – enough room for a couple of Betta fish
  • Acrylic – stronger and lighter than glass (also clearer so easier to see your Betta in action)
  • 5 stage filtration – ensures that your Betta has the perfect environment at all times
  • LED lighting
  • biOrb Air pump
  • Water conditioner
  • Available in 3 colors

2.5 Gallon Corner Tank

We already have an entire page dedicated to corner fish tanks, so if you’re interested in seeing more like this then head over there. But we decided to include this particular tank in our Betta fish tank list because we believe it is seriously well suited to Betta fish (and indeed most smaller species of fish). Here’s why:

  • 2.5 gallons – small, but big enough for a Betta
  • Corner shape – ideal for smaller areas (like offices, bedrooms etc.)
  • 7 color LED lighting – want to show your Betta off? This tank is perfect for that.
  • Superclean 10 power filter – keeps your fish tank ‘Superclean’
  • Shatter-acrylic – lighter, clearer and stronger than glass

Portrait Aquarium

This is described as a ‘portrait aquarium’, which essentially means it was designed to show off your fish – that’s exactly what we think it’s perfect for Betta fish, arguably the most attractive species of fish out there. At 5 gallons, it’s pretty much the perfect size fish tank for a Betta fish, and it also comes with a few other extras:

  • Hidden back panel filtration – keeps the tank clean and your Betta healthy without taking up too much space
  • Bright white & blue LED lighting
  • Sliding glass canopy – makes it easy to admire your Betta fish
  • 4.5 star rating on Amazon from 400 reviews – wow.

Fluval Chi Betta Aquarium (5 Gallons)

Although this fish tank isn’t actually designed specifically for Betta fish, it’s simply a well built aquarium that is perfect for smaller species of fish. It’s a fairly plain tank, which isn’t full of unnecessary features that will get in the way of your Betta. The one feature that this tank does include is a small ‘garden’ in the middle of the aquarium, providing your Betta with the cover and privacy that they so often crave. This aquarium includes:

  • Base stand
  • Low voltage LED lighting system (consisting of 17 lights)
  • ¬†Filter media
  • Water conditioner

Fluval Edge Aquarium Kit (6 Gallons)

At 6 gallons, this fish tank isn’t just spacious – it’s also what you would probably describe as ‘luxurious’. There are 2 sizes available, one of which is a few inches taller than the other. It’s a 6 sided tank, giving your Betta fish a panoramic view (and allowing you to keep a close eye on your Betta!). However, there’s also plenty of room for decorations and ornaments if you think your Betta would appreciate some privacy. This aquarium also includes:

  • State of the art Edge filter to keep the water (and your Betta) healthy
  • Nutrafin Cycle/Aquaplus water treatments
  • LED lighting system
  • 3 deep blue night time LED lights to create a relaxing environment for your Betta fish

biOrb Aquarium Kit (4 gallons)

We’ve included the 4 gallon version of this aquarium in our list of Betta fish tanks, but there are actually 3 other sizes available too (8, 16 and 28 gallons). The bowl design allows a 360 view of your Betta, which is perfect if you like showing your fish off. There is still enough room for some decent plant decorations if you’d like to provide your fish with some privacy. Because this is a kit, you get quite a few ‘extras’ with your purchase, including:

  • Acrylic – a stronger and lighter material than glass
  • 5 stage filtration system – keeping water at optimum levels for your Betta fish
  • LED lighting system – creating a gorgeous environment for your Betta to live in
  • Gravel
  • Air pump
  • Food

Marineland 5 Gallon Escape Hexagon Aquarium

Despite having a name that makes it sound like some kind of theme park ride which is a hybrid of a haunted house and a log flume, the Marineland Escape is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a fish tank for your Betta fish. The main selling point of this aquarium is the ‘multiple hex-shaped viewing panels’ (their words not ours) which allow for 360 viewing of your Betta. You’ll also get:

  • LED hood
  • hidden filtration system
  • Adjustable flow pump
  • Made from plastic

biOrb Life 8 Gallon Aquarium

This aquarium might look a bit strange (and even futuristic), but the unique design of this fish tank is actually what makes it such a great find. Not only will it provide your Betta fish with enough room to keep them more than happy, it’ll also look great in your home. Here are the main features:

  • Made from acrylic
  • 5 stage filtration
  • Remote controlled LED lighting
  • Feeding hole at the top
  • biOrb air pump
  • Water conditioner
  • Dimenison –¬†15.75 inches x 9.25 inches x 16.5 inches

biOrb Flow 4 Gallon

biOrb are famed for making fish tanks that question the norm, and their FLOW aquarium is no exception. It has a strange albeit functional design that gives it a unique look, and will allow you to show off your Betta fish. Here are the other notable features of this aquarium:

  • Acrylic
  • 5 stage filtration system
  • Built-in LED system
  • Water conditioner

Marineland 3 Gallon Nook Aquarium

Another Marineland aquarium, another hilarious name. What this fish tank lacks in name, it makes up for in functionality and design. Your Betta will be having the time of his life in here, plus with 3 gallons, you’ll have room for decorations and ornaments if you like. Along with the fish tank, you’ll get:

  • LED lighting system
  • Hidden filtration
  • Adjustable flow pump
  • Plastic material
  • Black canopy

biOrb HALO 4 Gallon

Another biOrb aquarium, and another bizarre design. This looks more like a UFO than a fish tank for your betta, but trust us when we say that this is an awesome aquarium. The name is pretty cool (Master Chief anyone?), but it’s the features that won us over:

  • Acrylic – a stronger and lighter material than glass
  • biOrb air pump
  • 5ml water conditioner
  • LED light unit with remote controller

Hopefully this list of Betta fish tanks is comprehensive enough for you to decide which tank to choose. Although Bettas are smaller fish, there isn’t really a limit on what size of fish tank they can live in. You could easily purchase a 40 gallon or even 50/55/60 gallon fish tank (provided that you filled it full of nice decorations!).
